Spring at Patterson Greenhouses
Spring is when the greenhouse truly comes alive. While some flowers and vegetables are available only for a short window early in the season, many of the plants you’ll find in spring will thrive well into summer with proper care.
Availability can shift slightly from year to year depending on the weather, but this page gives you a good sense of what to expect, and when.

Early Spring Favorites
Some plants are grown specifically for early spring and are only available for a limited time. These cool-weather favorites are among the first signs that spring has arrived.
Spring-only plants typically include:
- Pansies
- Primrose / Primula
- Tulips
- Lilies
- Easter Specials
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Lettuce
- Peas
These items are best enjoyed early in the season and won’t be available later in the summer.
Timing & Seasonal Availability
Most early spring plants go on sale near the end of March, depending on weather conditions. In warmer springs, some products may be ready a bit earlier.
A small selection of perennials is usually available at this time as well. The bulk of our annuals and perennials arrive closer to Mother’s Day, when planting conditions are ideal. From there, they are sold throughout the spring and summer while supplies last.
Because we grow much of what we sell, availability naturally follows the rhythm of the season — and no two springs are exactly the same.
